Church Road Winery and Bistronomy Restaurant are big hitters in the Hawke’s Bay food and wine scene with winemaker Chris Scott and Chef James Beck having garnered more awards than you can poke a stick at, including Winestate Magazine New Zealand Winemaker of the Year 2016 and NZ Cuisine Good Food Awards Best Regional Restaurant 2016. Bistronomy’s food philosophy revolves around fresh and foraged produce and this unique foraging experience sees the humble grapevine become the ingredient of choice. From vine, to leaf, to fruit, James (the Forager) will utilise the entire plant to create a unique, geographically inspired five course degustation menu celebrating some of Church Road’s key vineyards.
Chris (the Fermenter) will apply his expertise to match each course with a wine produced from the vineyard taking centre stage on the plate. We love sharing a meal with friends new and old hence a ‘long lunch’ table will be set. We encourage you to strike up conversation with your fellow food & wine loving neighbours. Chris will join you for lunch so feel free to put him on the spot with any curly wine questions you may have. James will be busy creating your unforgettable lunch and will join the group for coffee once the final course has been served.

The Art of TOM
Church Road is excited to announce ‘The Art of TOM’ event as part of this year’s Winter F.A.W.C! calendar.
F.A.W.C! is a delicious event series of ‘out of the box’ food and wine experiences, set in stunning landscapes and locations throughout Hawke’s Bay and we are proud to be hosting ‘The Art of TOM’ on Saturday June 17th as part of the Winter edition.
On arrival you will be treated to a glass of our Cellar Door exclusive Church Road Methode Traditionnelle and throughout the afternoon discover the legacy behind our wines on a candlelit museum tour hosted by Chief Winemaker Chris Scott.
Following the tour, in the beautiful Tom McDonald cellar awaits the opportunity to taste the newly released Church Road TOM Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Chardonnay vintage 2014 benchmarked against the 2013 vintage releases of the same varietals. Wine-matched canapés from our very own cellar door chef will accompany the tasting.
