Acclaimed singer/songwriter ‘Stretch’ brings a very special one-night- only show, to the spectacular Church Road Winery, Saturday 14th April. This is Stretch’s first show for 2018, and marks his return to the stage since winding up an exceptional year of music. A year which saw his debut solo album ‘Bury All Horses’ go Top 10, performances to rapturous audiences including a sold out show at the Hawke’s Bay Arts Festival, and furthering his reputation as one of the countries most thrilling musical artists.
For this concert, Stretch is joined by a mix of renowned string players, for a uniquely beautiful interpretation of his music. The combination of Stretch’s passionate performance, with the emotive tones of cello, double bass, amongst others, promises a magical night. Staged in the Cellar Room of Church Road Winery, this grand space will become a concert venue amongst the oak barrels, providing incredible acoustics and architecture. Limited bookings will be available for table seating.

Revered for their brilliant live performances and superb musicianship, the John Butler Trio are one of the most successful Australian bands of the current era and are returning to New
Zealand for a one-off show at the stunning Church Road winery in the Hawkes Bay for Good Friday 2018.
The multi-award winning Blues and Roots act are one of those rare acts who have managed to successfully straddle across mainstream and alternative releasing a consistent stream of chart
busting tunes. Shaping the way independent music is released and received in Australia they have graced the stage of just about every major festival on the global circuit, including our very own Rhythm and Vines in 2009. Their captivating and dynamic live performances continue to see them grow in stature and popularity by doing what they do best, touring their socks off!
In 2014 the trio’s most recent album ‘Flesh & Blood’ took out yet another accolade – the Aria Award for Best Blues and Roots Album. The band are a constant on the world touring circuit, their avid fans can expect a new studio album to be released early in 2018.
Previous performances from John Butler Trio in New Zealand include the Rhythm and Vines festival in 2009, Winery Tour in 2011, and a sold-out Powerstation show in 2014. The performance at Church Road Winery (one of New Zealand’s oldest wineries) will go down as one of many memorable performances at the picturesque venue, with the likes of musical legends James Taylor, Jack Johnson, Ben Harper and more having performed there over the years.

Church Road is excited to be hosting some of Hawkes Bay’s finest acoustic acts this summer. Relax in our park-like grounds, enjoy a glass of Church Road wine and one of our delicious platters or cheeseboards, while you’re entertained by our local talent. Vagabond Jacks Food Truck will be joining us with his healthy, tasty treats from around the globe. Our restaurant will also be operating a full a la carte menu should you wish to dine indoors before heading out to enjoy the entertainment and Hawke’s Bay sunshine.
Church Road wine and a selection of beverages will be available for purchase. Complimentary water will also be available. No BYO beverage or food please.
Proof of identification will be required upon purchasing wine or beer. Alcohol will not be served to people under the age of 18 years.

Annabelle & Ash
Annabelle & Ash – an acoustic music duo with a country-folk twist, are regular weekend performers around the bay. Ash, originally from Wellington and Annabelle from Gisborne, became an item while travelling worldwide as cruise ship musicians. Now settled in the bay, Annabelle & Ash play their own original music and have over 400 cover songs of all styles, making each one their own. For more information check out their website here
Jarna is a young and passionate musician from Hawke’s Bay, playing chilled and relaxed tunes that go well with an afternoon lunch or dinner. She enjoys playing a wide variety of gigs from private functions to sporting events, with the ability to read a crowd and share her love of music with people of any age.
Neil is a well known Hawke’s Bay guitar teacher and performer. He is a member of the duo ‘Ruby Shooz’ and for the past 12 years he has been lead guitarist with the covers band ‘Groove Foundation’. Neil is also a casual member of the originals band ‘Power’, with whom he toured England in 2013. As a soloist, Neil plays a huge range of acoustic covers. Expect to hear and sing along to plenty of upbeat, classic songs from the 1970’s through to more recent hits. Not to mention Neil’s eclectic mix of laid back material which is sure to please! Original, innovative, unrivalled – Fraser Mack has developed a sound of his own that is at once relatable but also unfathomable, leaving his audience wondering “how did he do that?” Described on Rock Radio UK as New Zealand’s best kept secret and undoubtedly one of the best guitarists in the land, Mack first picked up a guitar at the age of 16. He began his career in the provincial towns of Hastings and Napier, performing covers of rock and folk songs – as well as being a session musician and support guitarist for locals. He has created a unique and contemporary style that delivers a startling edge to familiar songs. As a creative musician, his sets now include his original work. his songs are an amalgam of blues, rock, folk and funk. Primarily a solo artist, Mack and his guitars can be heard at corporate and private functions as well as at festivals and in pubs, cafes and wineries in the Hawke’s Bay and Wellington regions. When you hear it, you know it. Iris has the sort of voice that once heard, can’t be forgotten. Raw soul and sheer emotion entwine with a delicacy that is breath taking. This 19 year old jazz songwriter brings a maturity and complexity to her music that criss crosses trap beats and RnB grooves with echoes of vintage jazz, leaving listeners spell bound. Ian Munro is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter and producer. Munro is full of feel in his guitar playing and over 250 shows per year have proved good exercise for his emotive voice. An avid “looper”, Munro can produce a band sound live onstage guaranteed to fill a room with pleasure and encourage dancing from any audience. To watch Ian Munro play is to see someone who has dedicated his life to his career for years and years. Artists that inspire Munro are paid respect to in his massive repertoire of covers.
